Rolling Over Baby Uno: Safety Measures

Some babies begin to roll over as early as two months of age, about 75% of infants are rolling over by nineteen weeks.

And about 90% are rolling over by the time they are five and a half months old.

That makes it very important to work to avoid falls and getting things childproofed around your home. Now that your baby is rolling over, you can't simply childproof her immediate surroundings and still be safe. She may roll over and find something to choke on, fall off the couch, or get into other things that you didn't expect she could reach.

To keep your baby safe as she is rolling over, you should:

* be sure that you don't leave your baby for even a second when she is somewhere that she can fall, such as a changing table, bed, couch, etc. If you have to leave for whatever reason, even for a few seconds, pick up your baby and take her with you.
* keep one hand on your baby at all times whenever she is up high on a changing table or a place that she can fall
* check the floor regularly for small items and toys that your baby could choke on. This includes marbles, balls, uninflated or broken balloons, small magnets, small Lego pieces and other toys with small pieces.
* teach older children to keep their toys away from the baby and to put them away when they are done playing with them. You might even set up a toy-free zone around the baby, just to be safe that siblings don't leave small toy pieces around her.
* make sure you have gotten your home well childproofed. Don't wait until she is crawling or walking. If she is mobile, it is time (if you haven't already) for childproofing everything so that one of her "first steps" doesn't end up in your first visit to the emergency room.

Rolling over

Once your baby has head control, and about the same time that he learns to sit on his own, he'll learn to roll over. He'll eventually learn to flip over from his back to his tummy and vice versa, and he'll use his newfound skill to get around a bit. The incentive for those early rolls is often an elusive toy — or you.
When it develops

Your baby may be able to kick himself over, from his tummy to his back, as early as age 2 to 3 months. It may take him until he's about 5 or 6 months to flip from back to front, though, because he needs stronger neck and arm muscles for that maneuver.
How it develops

At about 3 months, when placed on his stomach, your baby will lift his head and shoulders high, using his arms for support. This mini-pushup helps him strengthen the muscles he'll use to roll over. He'll amaze you (and himself!) the first time he flips over. (While babies often flip from front to back first, doing it the other way is perfectly normal, too.)

At 5 months your baby will probably be able to lift his head, push up on his arms, and arch his back to lift his chest off the ground. He may even rock on his stomach, kick his legs, and swim with his arms. All these exercises help him develop the muscles he needs to roll over in both directions — likely by the time he's about 6 months old.

While some babies adopt rolling as their primary mode of ground transportation for a while, others skip it altogether and move on to sitting, lunging, and crawling. As long as your child continues to gain new skills and shows interest in getting around and exploring his environment, don't worry.

Introducing Solid Foods to Baby Uno

When should I introduce solid food to my baby?

You can introduce solids any time between 4 and 6 months if your baby is ready. Until then, breast milk or formula provides all the calories and nourishment your baby needs and can handle. His digestive system simply isn't ready for solids until he nears his half-birthday.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that babies be breastfed exclusively for at least six months — though parents will attest that some babies are eager and ready to eat solids earlier.

How will I know when my baby's ready?

Your baby will give you clear signs when he's ready to move beyond liquid-only nourishment. Cues to look for include:

• Head control. Your baby needs to be able to keep his head in a steady, upright position.

• Losing the "extrusion reflex." To keep solid food in his mouth and then swallow it, your baby needs to stop using his tongue to push food out of his mouth.

• Sitting well when supported. Even if he's not quite ready for a highchair, your baby needs to be able to sit upright to swallow well.

• Chewing motions. Your baby's mouth and tongue develop in sync with his digestive system. To start solids, he should be able to move food to the back of his mouth and swallow. As he learns to swallow efficiently, you may notice less drooling. He may also be teething around the same time.

• Significant weight gain. Most babies are ready to eat solids when they've doubled their birth weight (or weigh about 15 pounds) and are at least 4 months old.

• Growing appetite. He seems hungry — even with eight to ten feedings of breast milk or formula a day.

• Curiosity about what you're eating. Your baby may begin eyeing your bowl of rice or reaching for a forkful of fettuccine as it travels from your plate to your mouth.
How should I introduce solid food?

A good rule of thumb is to start with rice cereal, which is gluten-free and less allergenic than other foods. First, nurse or bottle-feed your baby. Then give him one or two teaspoons of dry cereal mixed with enough formula or breast milk to make a semi-liquid. Use a rubber-tipped spoon when you feed your baby, to avoid injuring his gums. Start with just a small amount of cereal on the tip of the spoon.

If your baby doesn't seem very interested in eating off the spoon, let him smell and taste the cereal or wait until he warms up to the idea of eating something solid. Don't add solid food to your baby's bottle or he may not make the connection that food is to be eaten sitting up and from a spoon.

Begin with a once-a-day feeding, whenever it's convenient for you and your baby, but not at a time when your baby seems tired or cranky. Your baby may not eat much in the beginning, but give him time to get used to the experience. Some babies need practice keeping food in their mouths and swallowing.

SAFETY MEASURES WHILE BATHING BABY ON A BATHTUB

When your baby can sit up independently, he's ready to start bathing in the "big tub." Here are some guidelines to make bath time safe:

Watch your baby. Supervise your baby at all times during a bath. Babies can drown in as little as an inch of water. A sturdy waterproof bath seat or bath ring (with suction cups on the bottom) may help keep your baby in a manageable position, but it doesn't guarantee his safety. Never leave your baby unattended.

Prevent falls. Place a rubber mat in your tub for your baby to sit on. Make it a rule right from the start that he always sits in the tub, never stands.

Monitor the water temperature. Keep the water temperature between 96 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Set your water heater no higher than 120 degrees.

Prepare the bath safely. Fill the tub so the water will be no higher than his waist when your baby is seated. Run the water before placing your baby in the tub, and when you put him in, position him well away from the faucet handles and spout. Some parents find extra peace of mind in a cushioned spout cover for the faucet, although it's not very likely your baby will bump into it.

Easy on the soap. Soap, shampoo, and bubble bath can irritate your baby's skin during a prolonged soak (and bubble bath can irritate the urethra, leading to urinary tract infections), so use them sparingly. Warm water alone will usually do the trick.

Today, my family and I went at San Pedro Cathedral early this morning to celebrate the Easter Sunday or so what we called the "SUGAT" or the meeting of the Risen Christ and Mary.

The resurrection gives my life meaning and direction and the opportunity to start over no matter what my circumstances.

Easter is the time for holidays, festivals and a time for giving chocolate Easter eggs. But Easter means much more....

Easter is the oldest and the most important Christian Festival, the celebration of the death and coming to life again of Jesus Christ. For Christians, the dawn of Easter Sunday with its message of new life is the high point of the Christian year.

What is the Easter story ?

Easter is the story of Jesus' last days in Jerusalem before his death.The Easter story includes Maundy Thursday (the Last supper leading to the Eucharist), Good Friday (the day on which Jesus was crucified) and Easter Day (the day on which Jesus came back to life).

It is a sad story because Jesus was killed. But the story has a very happy ending, because Jesus came back to life and visited his friends and followers once more. He did not die at all, but went back up to Heaven to be with God, his father.

Jesus is alive! Alleluia! The Paschal Mystery of our Lord Jesus Christ comes to fruition today with the celebration of His Resurrection. The glory of God is shown in the Resurrection of Jesus on the third day after His crucifixion on Mount Calvary.

Our mourning has been turned into rejoicing. The darkness has been conquered by the light. The scars on his body have been turned into stars of victory over sin and death. This is the greatest feast in Christianity – Jesus lives on and will forever reign in our hearts!
The resurrection should be seen in the context of the life and ministry of Jesus. The disciples believed that through the resurrection, God had vindicated Jesus. God favored his Son for being faithful to his mission of proclaiming the Good News to all.

We prepared for this great season for 40 days with prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. All these were intended to break us from our worldly attachments and focus on the most important things in our life – things that will nourish our relationship with the Lord and with one another. Unless we let go of our selfish desires, we will never experience the tremendous power of God over us.

We will only share in the Easter joy if we truly respond to his offer of life and love. Like Jesus, we shall be glorified if we become faithful to the mission God has entrusted to each one of us – a mission of bringing the Good News to all.

In a world filled with darkness, we are called to bring the Good News of hope to our society today. Easter is a celebration of hope. We are a people of the Resurrection. As we follow in the footsteps of Jesus, we are called to be strong and not anymore be defeated by humanity’s selfishness and greed. We must breathe life into our seemingly hopeless world. We are also called to enhance and nurture all of creation so as to serve the needs of all.

May the Easter joy prod us to live a life pleasing to God.

Easter is not a time for groping through dusty, musty tomes or tombs to disprove spontaneous generation or even to prove life eternal. It is a day to fan the ashes of dead hope, a day to banish doubts and seek the slopes where the sun is rising, to revel in the faith which transports us out of ourselves and the dead past into the vast and inviting unknown.

Why do we give eggs at Easter?

Easter is a Christian festival. For Christians the custom of giving eggs at Easter celebrates new life. Christians remember that Jesus, after dying on the cross, rose from the dead. The first eggs given at Easter were birds eggs. These eggs were painted in bright colours to give them further meaning as a gift. We still paint bird eggs today but usually only chicken eggs.

Pre-school is 3 years
elementary is 6 depending upon the school or where one is studying some have Grades 7 and 8 surely in the Philippines next year.
There’s 4 years of high school and
another 4 in college
(which also depends on what field of study as medicine takes longer, etc.)
So give and take, it’s close to 16-20 years right?

Our parents long to see the light at the end of the tunnel and see their kids through college. While it is no mean fete to put kids through school, it is of course a glorious day when graduation day happens.

So we have to be cheerful and celebrate even in our simplest celebration through gathering a family and most specially for thanking GOD.

Music that soothes you or makes you happy just might have the same effect on your baby. Although there's evidence that music has cognitive benefits for preschoolers and older children, no one has studied this phenomenon in infants. Still, you may find that music plays a useful role in your baby's life in other ways:

Music as a soother. Works for you, doesn't it? When your baby is fussy or crying, try singing a lullaby like "Hush Little Baby" or "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" softly into his ear. The repetitive sounds and your familiar voice may help him feel more secure and relaxed.

Music as calming background noise. Instead of keeping the TV or talk radio on all day, consider switching to an all-music station you like. Or program a digital music player with tunes that please both you and your baby.

Music as a source of strength. A study at Brigham Young University found that premature infants who were exposed to music gained more weight, had lower blood pressure, and had a stronger heartbeat than a comparable group of babies who weren't.

There's no evidence that any one kind of music is more effective than another, so pick what you like. Exception: Animal and plant studies show that the discordant notes and chaotic pace of rap and guitar-heavy rock seem to interfere with growth in both plants and animals and with brain structure in animals.

Naptime frequently can be a stressful time for both the parent and child alike, and bad habits can develop quickly. The key is to teach your baby how to fall asleep alone, in his/her own environment, instead of relying on some outside force to get your baby sleeping. Make sure that you don't allow yourself to fall into a pattern where you have to do something in order to get your baby napping.

The common mistake is to take your baby for a stroll or a drive when you know that it is right around naptime. It's all too easy to do that instead having to deal with actually allowing your baby to learn how to fall asleep on his/her own.

Instead, get your baby falling asleep without any external stimulus, so that your baby can sleep independently and naptime can be a peaceful
and rejuvinating time for you both.

Some Safety Tips!

Exposed body parts such as the face, head or neck need to be protected with a broad-rimmed hat. Young children should not be exposed to direct sunlight, especially in the middle of the day between eleven AM and three PM. Their eyes also need to be protected from harmful UV rays with quality UVA/UVB sunglasses. They can enjoy playing while protected under a beach umbrella or while being wheeled around in a stroller and mounted sunshade. If you leave your infant in a pop-up tent, you need to constantly monitor the temperature. It can get very warm inside in a short period of time. Look for a tent with wide screen windows to let air circulate.

Useful Baby Gear For the Beach!

A twin baby stroller with ample sunshade is great for the beach. Just make sure that your stroller doesn’t have swivel front wheels. Such strollers don’t perform well on sand and tend to get stuck.

Some beaches contain facilities where you can rent beach gear. You should check this before packing your baby stroller. Beach strollers usually come with an umbrella attachment and have very large, wide wheels that move easily on sand.

Travel items to pack include baby foods and liquids, disposable feeding bottles and battery operated food warmers. Other items include a floppy hat with fabric ties, baby lotion, sunscreen, soap, washcloths, wet wipes, towels, diapers and toys. These can all go into your diaper bag.

A beach outing provides wholesome fun for the entire family. Nurturing your baby need not stop you from having fun at the beach. If you pack all the necessary items, you can enjoy a memorable experience that you’ll cherish forever.

How to Handle Irate Callers!

If your job entails taking calls from unhappy, irate callers, you've got your work cut out for you. Many of us are vulnerable to outbursts from callers who are already going through an emotional, stressful time.

Handling these calls takes time and training, but it can be accomplished effectively. Here are some service recovery techniques for turning unhappy callers into satisfied ones.

Understand the Source of the Anger - Realize that angry callers are not unhappy with you, just the situation. Don't take a caller's hostility personally. You are the lightning rod, not the target.

You can do a great deal to diffuse a caller's anger before you even pick up the phone. How? By smiling before you answer that call. A smile can really be "heard" over the phone. It's difficult to be rude to someone who's warm and friendly.

Use the ASAP Technique - Here is my ASAP technique for handling irate callers:

Acknowledge the person's feelings and apologize for the inconvenience the caller has encountered. Make an effort to be sincere. In today's impersonal society, it's incredibly rare to hear the words "I'm sorry that happened. Let me get the ball rolling to fix it." You'll probably spend about 80 percent of your time massaging the caller's feelings and 20 percent actually solving the problem.

Sympathize and empathize with the caller. Phrases like, "I can understand why you're upset," help soothe ruffled feathers. Pretend it is you calling. Then get busy solving the caller's problem.

Accept 100 percent responsibility for the call. This is probably the toughest part. Chances are you had nothing to do with the problem. However, it is your job to accept responsibility and initiate a solution.

Prepare to help. Begin by reintroducing yourself. Callers don't usually remember your name. State that you will be able to help. Use the caller's name, if possible, which helps diffuse the anger. A willing attitude is essential because if the caller senses insincerity or indifference, he will stay angry. It's exasperating to file a complaint with someone who obviously doesn't care.

No Excuses - Never make an excuse to a complaining caller. No one wants to hear, "The computer is down," or "I'm the only one here." That is your problem, not the caller's. When you give an excuse, the caller hears, "I'm not going to help you now."

Escalating a Call - Sometimes you are not able to solve the problem on the spot. Many times you need more information from another department. Perhaps the call needs to be handled by another person. Although these are legitimate courses of action, they usually upset your caller again.

If you need more information, explain that to your caller. Ask him if he is able to hold while you obtain it, or if he would prefer a call back. Avoid untrue phrases like, "Hold on a sec." Nothing takes a second.

If you need to transfer a caller, let him know the name of the person to whom he or she will be speaking. Give a reason why you are bringing in a third party. "Joe, Mrs. Smith in our claims department is the real expert in resolving your type of problem. Let me transfer you directly to her."

Swear Stopper Technique - Unfortunately, there are callers who are firmly convinced that abusive language is their only recourse. Try my "swear stopper" technique. Say to the caller in a firm, but pleasant voice, "Excuse me, I can help you with your problem, but I'm not able to handle your abusive language."

By using this wording, you are taking control of the conversation. Then immediately start asking questions that will help solve the problem. This helps you stay in control of the conversation.

Try using these techniques and see how quickly you start handling complaint calls more effectively. Then see how good you feel about yourself; you'll be doing your job better than ever before...

my daddy is in cebu.. but we have just celebrated the feast of Sto. Nino here in davao through prayers...

The Sinulog festival is one of the grandest and most colorful festivals in the Philippines. The main festival is held each year on the third Sunday of January in Cebu City to honor the Santo Niño, or the child Jesus, who used to be the patron saint of the whole province of Cebu (since in the Catholic faith Jesus is not a saint, but God). It is essentially a dance ritual which remembers the Filipino people’s pagan past and their acceptance of Christianity.

MY GODPARENTS And Their JOB Description

GODPARENTING may be the least understood job in Christianity. Some parents select sponsors in baptism to honour family members or friends; others look for responsible parent-types "just in case."

Few parents, if any, have any real expectation about what godparents should "do" for their child, other than standing with them at the font on the day of baptism. Godparents themselves are often confused about their responsibilities with the result being that many sponsors, some parents, and more than a few clergy wonder whether inviting godparents into relationship with a candidate for baptism is necessary at all.

Yet, with careful education and preparation, godparents can serve as a vital link between the candidate's Christian family and the community of faith into which they are to be baptized.

1.) Godparents represent the Church of Jesus Christ,as new members are initiated into the Christian faith and life.

As far back as the Middle Ages, a young man or woman had a series of three sponsors during the period of their initiation into the Church - one for the period of instruction, a second for their baptism, and a third for their confirmation. At each occasion it was the godparent who presented the candidate to the Church for consideration as a member.

Today, parents customarily present their own children for these functions. However, godparents can and still do represent the community of faith at the act of baptism. This does not presuppose that godparents must be members of the congregation into which the candidate is baptized. In fact, the presence of godparents from other families within Christendom underscores the universality of the Church and the strength of our wider fellowship as Christians.

As those who stand for the Church at Baptism, godparents maintain a vital interest in the spiritual life of the candidate's family, especially as it is expressed in their home. Their ongoing concern is not only the welfare of the individual they sponsor, but also the spiritual atmosphere in which the child is raised. Even if godparents live at a distance, this can be accomplished by daily prayer for the godchild and his or her family, regular contact through letters and visits, and gifts of age-appropriate Christian books and music. I encourage godparents to remember that while friends and relatives remember a child's birthday and other celebrations like Christmas, they have the privilege of making a child's baptismal or confirmation anniversary a special occasion through their attention and remembrance. Thus, a godparent brings the life of faith to the Christian family as a friend and representative of the greater Church.

2. The godparent is the guarantor of education.

In the past, some branches of the Christian Church have traditionally charged godparents with specific tasks focusing on the candidate's education in the Christian faith and life. In some churches, this meant insuring that the child knew the Ten Commandments and the Lord's Prayer. In others, it meant providing the candidate with the information necessary for confirmation preparation.

In our time, godparents are rarely a child's primary educator, but the sponsor must maintain a lively interest in the candidate's Christian education. This, of course, assumes that the godparent himself or herself possesses a level of spiritual maturity enabling them to discern the candidate's growth in faith and offer the gift of self to enrich the child's spiritual development. Resources for this responsibility are limitless, and the abundance of material available to lay folk through churches and Christian bookstores makes sharing the substance of the faith with a godchild a rewarding and exciting charge.

3. A godparent is a mentor, helper, and friend.

When asked if they are willing to stand as a sponsor in baptism, potential godparents should seriously consider whether they are capable of making a lifetime commitment to another human being. Just as parents face a lifetime of commitment to the health and well-being of their children, godparents must expect to exercise their responsibilities of involvement and care for the young people they sponsor. As representatives of the fancily of believers in Jesus Christ, they must expect to be available to their godchildren at all times for counsel, encouragement, and companionship.

In our time, the concept of spiritual friendship, of companionship on the faith journey, has become extremely popular. Rather than being a new concept, this is, in fact, an old idea, grounded in the type of relationship godparents should have with their godchildren. This experience of faithful companionship should be a comfortable and natural one for Christians, modeling their relationship with their godparents, their first friends in faith.

The day I came into this world...
I was waiting for my dad to come back here in Davao, since he was working in Cebu. The moment my mom's cellphone rings informing that he is already in Davao. I started kicking on my mom's womb. I was very excited to see my parents since we had an agreement with my dad to wait for him before i come out.

dad and mom left for the hospital on the 29th of Sept. 2008 at 8:00 o'clock in the morning. I was born 3 hour later at 11:15 o'clock. I weighed 2.14 KGs and I was 49 cm long.
The color of my eyes is black and my hair is straight.

During my mom's labor, the moment she remembered most was she was praying for the safety labor for both of us with the rosary that my dad gave to her. And that she always told me to have a normal birth. Which we both did. hehehe...

My daddy was a great help that day, especially when he assist my mom on her every needs.

On that day, i was place at the nursery room. Since my grandparents were so excited to see me... and so keen to know how I look like, my dad took my first photos since he was the only one who could see /view me from there. check out my first photos.
